Marc R. Gilbert, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Marc Gilbert was born in Dayton and graduated from Meadowdale High School. Dr. Gilbert joined the practice in 1986 after graduating from Illinois College of Optometry, Magna Cum Laude. He has a bachelor’s degree in biology from California State University, and a bachelor’s degree in music composition from Berklee College Of Music in Boston, MA.
He served an internship in vision therapy and pediatrics at the State University of New York and had low vision training at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind.
Dr. Gilbert was president of the Miami Valley Society of Optometrists for 1989 – 1991. He is presently a member of the Kettering Rotary Club, Association for Children with Learning Disabilities, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and a Fellow of the College of Vision Development.
His two adult children are now married and he has four grandchildren. He is married to Dr. Annette Nathan and step-father to triplet daughters.
Heath B. Gilbert, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Heath Gilbert joined the practice in 1992. He was born in Dayton where he graduated from Northmont High School. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry.
At Ohio State he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. He served an internship in vision therapy and pediatrics at the State University of New York.
His areas of expertise are low vision, vision therapy,children’s vision, contact lenses, general practice, and the treatment of anterior eye disease.
He is presently a member of the Miami Valley Society of Optometrists, the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
He served as president of the Miami Valley Society of Optometrists in 1999-2000. He served as president of the Ohio Optometric Association in 2011. He lives in Washington Township with his wife, Rachel, and their four children.
Kathy Rudolf, O.D., M.B.A.
Dr. Kathy Rudolf joined the practice in 2009. She grew up in Maryland, graduated from Annapolis High School, and has lived in Ohio since 1992. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Business Administration from Wright State University, and earned her Doctoral degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry, cum laude.
During her clinical extern training through Ohio State, Dr. Rudolf received advanced training in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease conditions, such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma, at the Dayton VA Medical Center.
She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association, serves on board of the Miami Valley Society of Optometry and is board member of the Greater Old North Dayton Business Association.
She is a volunteer presenter of the Real Eyes educational program at local elementary schools and participates in the InfantSee program, providing a one-time no-cost eye and vision assessment for babies 6 to 12 months of age. She also volunteers to do free eye examinations for elementary school students through the iSee program with the Ohio Optometric Association. Dr. Rudolf lives in Yellow Springs with her husband Jon and is an avid outdoor enthusiast, having recently completed a cross country bicycle ride.
Ronald M. Gilbert, O.D., F.A.A.O. – (Retired 12/31/2012)
Dr. Ronald Gilbert joined the practice in 1959. The practice was originally founded in 1939 by the late Dr. Charles W. Thomas. Prior to joining the practice, he served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force Medical Services Corps.
Dr. Gilbert is a graduate of Kent State University with a degree in education, Cum Laude, and Ohio State University with a degree in optometry.
Dr. Gilbert was president of the Miami Valley Society of Optometrists in 1964 -1965 and president of the Ohio Optometric Association in 1977 – 1978.
He was chosen as the Ohio Optometrist of the Year in 1967. He presently serves on the provider council of Care Source and on the Board of Directors of the United Health Services. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
